The Royal Academy of Cambodia (RAC) hosted a special academic lecture on Aug. 25 by H.E. Dr. Rolando González Patricio, a distinguished Cuban parliamentarian, scholar, and President of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (PARLATINO).

The special lecture brought together Cambodian academics, researchers, government officials, and other invited participants for an exchange of views on international relations, sovereignty, solidarity, parliamentary diplomacy, and the evolving international order.

H.E. Dr. González Patricio, a member of the National Assembly of the People's Power of the Republic of Cuba and President of PARLATINO, shared his perspectives on Cuba's historical experience, international relations, and the importance of cooperation and solidarity among countries of the Global South.

The lecture was organised as part of commemorative activities marking the centenary of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, and provided an opportunity to reflect on Fidel Castro's historical role and his contributions to Cuba's national sovereignty, international solidarity, and engagement with the developing world.

H.E. Dr. González Patricio brought extensive academic and parliamentary experience to the discussion. He holds a Doctorate in Historical Sciences from the University of Havana and a degree in International Political Relations. His professional career has included work in academia, research, cultural affairs, international relations, and parliamentary diplomacy.

As President of PARLATINO, H.E. Dr. González Patricio has played an important role in promoting parliamentary dialogue, regional integration, peace, multilateralism, and cooperation among the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.

The lecture at the RAC also served as an important platform for strengthening Cambodia–Cuba academic and people-to-people exchanges. Participants discussed the importance of maintaining dialogue and cooperation between countries from different regions while promoting mutual respect, sovereignty, solidarity, and peaceful international relations.

The event further demonstrated the RAC's commitment to expanding international academic cooperation and providing opportunities for Cambodian scholars and students to engage with prominent international thinkers, parliamentarians, and policymakers.

The presence of H.E. Dr. González Patricio at the RAC was particularly meaningful in strengthening intellectual links between Southeast Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean. His lecture provided Cambodian participants with valuable insights into Latin American perspectives on international affairs and the role of parliamentary diplomacy in addressing global challenges.

The successful lecture concluded with an emphasis on the importance of peace, sovereignty, international solidarity, academic exchange, and cooperation among nations.
