Cambodian Journalists Join New Promotional Campaign in Chongqing
AKP Chongqing, September 22, 2026 -- Chongqing, China, has officially launched a new media promotional campaign involving nearly 100 domestic and international journalists, including a Cambodian journalist, to showcase the city’s potential and attractions as an international destination for tourism, culture, cuisine and services.
The campaign was officially launched on the evening of Sept. 20, with the participation of senior local officials, representatives of foreign consulates and general consulates in Chongqing, as well as representatives from relevant provinces and regions.
The campaign marks the fifth anniversary of Chongqing’s development as an international consumption centre and features a “5+3+N” strategy, comprising five core activities, three supporting activities and a wide range of special events across districts and counties.
During the launch ceremony, the city also introduced the “Chongqing Food Map 2.0” and unveiled a number of new cultural tourism and sports projects aimed at enhancing the city’s appeal to international tourists and consumers.
Mr. Zhang Yongwu, Director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, said the city takes pride in its distinctive identities, including being known as the “City That Never Sleeps” and a “World-Famous Food City.”
Mr. Zhang Yongwu noted that Chongqing’s unique identity and business environment have attracted 325 Fortune Global 500 companies and more than 2,800 well-known brands to establish a presence in the city.
Mr. He Du, Director of Yuzhong District, said the district is continuing to develop a favourable environment for international visitors through three major commercial areas, 20 shopping malls and 10 traditional commercial zones.
Yuzhong District also hosts western China’s first duty-free shopping demonstration area and has developed payment services to facilitate consumption by international visitors.
Among the participating journalists, 33 representatives from major media organisations from 30 countries, including Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Viet Nam, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, Nepal, Armenia and Kazakhstan, are taking part in the campaign.
