AKP Phnom Penh, September 21, 2026 -- Around 1,200 Cambodian and foreign tourists participated in a cycling event across the historic Angkor region on Sunday morning to celebrate the autumn equinox and promote tourism during Siem Reap province’s green season.

Organised by the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with the Siem Reap Provincial Administration under the theme "Sports Connected with Tourism," the event aimed to boost travel, enhance the appeal of the Angkor destination, and celebrate the equinox—a rare natural and cultural phenomenon unique to the site.

Tourism Minister H.E. Huot Hak praised the active participation of domestic and international visitors, highlighting their role in promoting Siem Reap’s tourism potential globally by sharing their travel experiences.

The Minister announced that the cycling race will become a bi-annual fixture coinciding with the equinoxes in March and September. Additional activities alongside the event include hiking in Phnom Kulen National Park and guided equinox tours scheduled for the following days.

Siem Reap Deputy Governor Mr. Ngov Seng Kak noted that hosting events during the green season provides an ideal opportunity to highlight the region's lush scenery and serene atmosphere. He expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Tourism, local authorities, and participants for ensuring the event's smooth execution and success.
