AOT-KH Continues Field Visit to Stung Bot Border Checkpoint in Banteay Meanchey Province
AKP Phnom Penh, August 20, 2026 -- The ASEAN Observer Team in Cambodia (AOT-KH), led by the Head of Mission of AOT-KH from the Philippines, on Thursday continued their mission of observing, verifying and reporting on the situation at the Stung Bot International Border Checkpoint in Banteay Meanchey province following the implementation of the Cambodia-Thailand ceasefire.
Coordinated by the Cambodian Liaison Group (CLG), the field visit was conducted at 10:25 a.m. at the checkpoint, located in Stung Bot village, Phsar Kandal district, Poipet municipality.
According to the Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence, the mission aimed to verify the implementation of the ceasefire and contribute to transparency and mutual trust, while helping protect civilian lives and supporting efforts toward rapid recovery, a return to normalcy, and lasting peace and stability.
The Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia reaffirmed their firm, sincere and unwavering commitment to fully and faithfully respect and implement the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) on Dec. 27, 2025, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand on Oct. 26, 2025, and all other relevant agreements.
Cambodia emphasised that its commitment is aimed at ensuring rapid recovery, restoring normalcy, and promoting long-lasting peace and stability along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
