Cambodian Dancers Win 62 Medals at ASEAN Championship in Malaysia
AKP Phnom Penh, July 27, 2026 --
Cambodian dancers won a total of 62 medals, including 13 gold, 25 silver and 24 bronze medals, at the Asian and Southeast Asian DanceSport Championships held in Malaysia from July 23 to 26, 2026.
Ms. Hang Simon, Secretary-General of the Cambodian DanceSport Federation, told AKP on the morning of July 27 that the competition concluded on the evening of July 26, with Cambodian athletes securing 62 medals in total.
Of the medals won, 13 were gold, 25 silver and 24 bronze, with the Cambodian athletes’ medal achievements coming specifically in the Southeast Asian category.
Ms. Hang Simorn described the achievement as the result of the collective efforts of the Cambodian delegation, coaches and athletes, representing a significant and proud accomplishment for the nation.
The Cambodian DanceSport delegation consisted of 22 members, including Mr. Ban Socheat, Head of Delegation; Ms. You Shu Jie, a judge; Mr. Sov Tong, head coach; Mr. Suon Kosal, assistant coach; and 18 athletes, comprising eight men and 10 women.
The delegation received full sponsorship of its round-trip air transportation from AirAsia.
At the 2025 edition of the championships, hosted by Vietnam, Cambodia won a total of 17 medals, including four gold medals, along with several silver and bronze medals.
