AKP Phnom Penh, July 23, 2026 --

Cambodia and the United States have reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and advancing the ASEAN-U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The reaffirmation came during a bilateral meeting between H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, H.E. Marco Rubio, U.S. Secretary of State, on the afternoon of July 23, on the sidelines of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and Related Meetings in Manila, the Republic of the Philippines.

During the meeting, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn welcomed the positive momentum in Cambodia-U.S. relations and the ASEAN-U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership under Cambodia's Country Coordinatorship for 2024-2027.

He reiterated his commitment to working closely with Secretary of State Marco Rubio to further advance both the bilateral relationship and the ASEAN-U.S. partnership.

The Deputy Prime Minister also expressed Cambodia's deep appreciation to U.S. President Donald J. Trump for the United States' invaluable support in facilitating the ceasefire agreement and the Kuala Lumpur Peace Accord, as well as for its continued close attention to the Cambodia-Thailand border situation.

He further briefed Secretary Rubio on the latest developments regarding the border situation between Cambodia and Thailand.
