Cambodian fresh durian exports to China reached 5,738 tonnes in the first seven months of 2026, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF).

The Ministry announced the figures on July 26 following the departure of the latest shipment of Cambodian fresh durians to the Chinese market.

H.E. Khim Finan, Undersecretary of State and Spokesperson of the MAFF, presided over the inauguration ceremony for the first shipment of fresh durian from Pechenda Fruit Production Co., Ltd. via a newly established land transport route through Laos.

MAFF said the shipment comprised three containers carrying more than 50 tonnes of fresh durian destined for China.

The Ministry attributed the sharp increase in exports to its efforts to establish the new overland transport route through Laos, which has significantly reduced delivery times.

Using the new route, fresh durians can reach the Chinese market in around five days, compared with 15 to 20 days by sea, helping to preserve fruit quality and improve supply chain efficiency.

The latest shipment marks another step in Cambodia's efforts to expand agricultural exports and improve market access for fresh produce through faster and more efficient logistics.
